Description

Senecio (Senecio rowleyanus), commonly known as String of Pearls, is a striking trailing succulent with spherical, bead-like leaves that spill beautifully over pot edges. It’s a favourite in UK homes for shelves, hanging baskets, and modern plant displays.

Toxic if ingested—keep away from pets and children.

PLANTING

  • Use a gritty, well-draining cactus mix in a container with drainage holes.

PLANT CARE

  • Trim leggy or damaged strands
  • Avoid getting water on the foliage to prevent rot.

VERVE RECOMMENDS

  1. Place in a bright spot for healthy trailing growth.
  2. Water only when the soil is completely dry.
  3. Use a hanging planter to show off cascading strands.
  4. Avoid overhandling—leaves are delicate.
