Overview

A productive pea grown for flat pods that are eaten whole. Provide support, keep well watered during flowering, and pick regularly to keep plants cropping. Mange tout is ideal for stir-fries, steaming, salads and quick sautés.

PLANTING ADVICE

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Suitable for ground or containers depending on space.

  • Outdoor cultivation

Best grown outdoors in well-prepared soil in full sun or light shade depending on crop.

  • Greenhouse cultivation

Not suitable for greenhouse cultivation.

CARE & HARVEST

Keep soil moist and weed free. Keep plants well maintained, remove damaged growth promptly and harvest regularly to maintain healthy, productive plants.

  • Watering: Water during dry periods to keep plants healthy and productive.
  • Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to support healthy growth.
  • Cutting and prunning: Remove any damaged or diseased growth as needed.
  • Harvesting: Harvest when produce reaches full size and colour for the best flavour and texture.
  • Pest and diseases: Monitor regularly for pests and remove affected growth promptly.
