Bromeliad
Exposure

Bright, indirect light is ideal; can tolerate some morning sun.

Watering frequency

Water into the central cup (rosette) and keep it filled; empty and refresh regularly.

Feeding frequency

Feed every 4–6 weeks with a diluted orchid or bromeliad fertilizer during the growing season.

Repoting

Repot only when necessary; bromeliads prefer to be slightly rootbound.

Description

Bromeliads are vibrant, tropical indoor plants known for their bold foliage and colourful flower rosettes. With their striking appearance and low-maintenance nature, they make excellent house plants for bright kitchens, bathrooms, and offices in the UK.

Generally pet-safe but best kept out of nibbling range.

PLANTING

  • Use a free-draining, peat-free orchid mix or add bark and perlite to regular compost.

PLANT CARE

  • Remove spent flowers
  • Clean the central cup regularly and maintain humidity through misting.

VERVE RECOMMENDS

  1. Keep water in the central rosette and refresh weekly.
  2. Mist regularly to increase humidity.
  3. Avoid soggy soil—roots need airflow.
  4. Place in a bright room but out of direct harsh sun.
